“Dummies.” Geraldine announced. “Gerald, did you hear that? They’re actually calling us ‘dummies’.”

“I’m aware. I’ve been silently furious since 1987.”

“You’ve only existed since 2019.”

“It feels like 1987.”

Teenagers shuffled by, crotches down around their knees, glancing up briefly in stultifying indifference.

“They looked through us,” Geraldine seethed. “Literally through us.”

“People are shallow, my dear.”

“We’re wearing better outfits than anyone on this street, Gerald. Look at that man’s shorts.”

Gerald looked.

“Dear God.”

“Exactly.”

Children blew shimmering bubbles that drifted lazily past the window as people oohed.

“Even the bubbles get more respect,” Geraldine whispered ruefully.

      1. Hilarious. In all honesty, (gasp!) I never watched Seinfeld. I’ve already taken steps to rectify that since it’s streaming on Netflix. I watched the first episode…onto the second. Just in time for summer binge watching. 😀
