Poetry, Word Prompt, Writing Prompts

Letting It Out

Written for Living Poetry where our host,
Bartholomew, asks us to write a poem using
the words ‘art’, destroy’, and ‘laugh’.
Here’s where the prompts took me.

They came to the studio armed with delight,
With hammers and mallets and joyful spite,
To destroy the sculptures, the canvas, the frame
And laugh till the walls cried out in mock pain.

The art exploded in glorious bloom,
Plaster and paint raining down through the room,
Each smash was a masterpiece, each crack a grin,
The messier the chaos, the more they dove in.

“Today we let go!” the chalkboard did tell,
As chunks flew like confetti and canvases fell,
They swung and they shattered and shrieked with delight…
letting it out is an art form in its own right!
