Let Them Eat Cake!

asks us to write a poem using homophones.
Here’s where the prompt took me.

A doe made some dough for a cake.
Dear deer watched her knead it and bake.
She got more confused by the hour –
“Do I need flour or flower?”
When through she threw it all in the lake!
