Written for Living Poetry where our host,
Bartholomew, asks us to write an exaggerated poem
telling a tall tale in glorious detail. I have paired
my poem with a great image from Melissa’s
Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge.
Here’s where the prompts took me.

Out West …. well, west of the parking garage ….
rode the mightiest cowboy the alley had seen.
His steed was so small folks thought it a mirage ….
the shaggiest, orneriest beast ever been.
“I’ve roped me a stallion!” he hollered and swore,
as the miniature pony dragged him down the lane.
He’d broken wild mustangs and grizzlies before
but this fluffy tornado near drove him insane.
The tumbleweed? Garbage. The prairie? Street tiles.
His lasso? A shoelace. His boots? Slightly scuffed.
Yet legends would spread through the cobblestone miles
of the boy and the pony …. both equally gruffed.
So raise up your hat to this hero so tall,
who conquered the mightiest beast of them all.

Brava Nance – you paint that picture hilariously 👏😀

Your opening line is wonderful, Nancy. Even if I did not have that adorable photo, I would picture this in my head. I love it!

It’s a fabulous piece (and I’m only somewhat resentful that it was used for a beef commercial!) 😳 Thanks very much, Clive 😊

I’ve seen it played live: I’m not sure who had more fun, the audience or the orchestra!
