Written for David’s Wea’ve Written Weekly
where our PoW, the lovely Lesley, asks us to
write a Cameo poem – a tiny distilled moment.
Thanks for the prompt, Lesley & David!

Warm sun.
Toes press slowly down;
the weight of stress dissolves at once
in the sand.
I had forgotten how the sea
washes all tension away.
My Zen.

Nancy’s Notes: A Cameo poem is a tiny, distilled moment rich in imagery yet minimalistic. It is comprised of 7 lines with the syllable count 2/5/8/3/8/7/2.
This is “Knee Deep” by Zac Brown Band ft. Jimmy Buffett
Everything on The Elephant’s Trunk was created by me, except where otherwise indicated. Thanks for your consideration. NAR©2017-present.

I’m missing Sydney’s beaches again. I have to find my zen elsewhere for now.
Nicely written Nancy 👏

Nancy, your sunlit cameo breathes like a long exhale of dissolving tension. I feel the same every time I escape to the sea. So beautifully expressed in a perfect cameo. This is so good.

I second that season!! We reached 78F today but Wednesday it is falling to 46F and we are expecting thunderstorms! I’m hoping there aren’t any tornadoes!

Oh, no! There hasn’t been a tornado where in my area since the early 1900s so I can’t imagine what that nightmare is like. Good luck and be safe!

We get tornadoes every spring and sometimes in the summer… It is when the cold air from the north meets the hot air from the south that violent weather happens!

I go to the beach almost every weekend. I didn’t make it this past weekend or the one before that, but I will most likely be there next weekend. 🙂

Must. Get. To. The. Beach.
I love that feeling when a wave washes over my feet and pulls back, coaxing sand that I’m standing on to head back to the ocean.
