Written for dVerse Poets Pub – “ Shhhhhh…..
Quiet, Please!” hosted by Lillian who has
asked us to create a quadrille using the
word “silence”. This is my response.

They fled the noise –
the neighbors, the traffic,
the television’s endless chatter –
tumbling through doorways,
breathless and laughing,
shushing each other
while making
twice the sound.
Finally, the garden.
3am.
Stars overhead.
“Here”, they whispered.
And silence, at last,
held them both.

This is written so well, it’s like a snippet or clip from a movie. I can see and feel the rush. And then I love the idea of silence holding them at the end. Thanks for posting to the prompt!
