Written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt
#452 where we’re asked to be creative in
exactly 72 words using the word ‘letter’.
Also for FOWC With Fandango, using the
word “jive”. Here’s where the prompts took me.

Maurice found his grandfather’s letter tucked inside the sleeve of an old vinyl. The faded ink described underground jazz clubs where musicians would jam until dawn, the saxophones wailing through smoky rooms.
“Your grandmother and I met there,” it read. “She could really jive. Even her eyes had rhythm!”
Maurice smiled, imagining them dancing and sharing laughter. He folded the letter carefully, understanding now why his grandfather always hummed while cooking dinner.
