Written for Sadje’s “What Do You See” #324.
Here’s where the photo prompt took me.

Wind-carved waves hold fleeting secrets,
footfall, pawprint, wandering line.
The sand remembers, then forgets,
smoothing each mark back into time.
Beneath the patient, warming sun,
all paths dissolve to gold again.

Predictable, maybe …. but I had to go with it.

Thanks for your lovely comment, Ange. 🤎
The desert is like the ocean …. compelling, ever-changing, and unforgiving.

Love the lines:
The sand remembers, then forgets,
smoothing each mark back into time.
You’ve captured this action so well.

Thank you, Esther. In a few hours or just a few moments, those footprints will be changed forever, perhaps no longer visible.

Beautiful brevity and great idea to write sandwaves. Perfect song to go with it too.
sidenote on my long-standing complaint about the lyrics: The line should be ‘nothing lasts forever; Not the Earth or sky…’

Thanks, Ron. The image was intriguing and that song was all I could think of.
Re the lyrics …. I never thought about it but I see your point, and I like it. Thank you.

This was a very interesting video, dear Ivor, and I’m assuming it was recorded during lockdown for covid. A lot of good music came out during that time. Thank you!

Hanna Kah is a personal favorite of mine. I happened to meet them after gig in Geelong in Jan 2020, just before ‘Covid’… and they played this song during their show … at the time when bushfires were raging all over Australia … 🎵😍🌏

That’s got to be surreal. We are bracing for a big winter storm this weekend, possibly 2 feet of snow! ❄️☃️
