Photo Prompt, Poem

Transient Traces

Written for Sadje’s “What Do You See” #324.
Here’s where the photo prompt took me.

Wind-carved waves hold fleeting secrets,
footfall, pawprint, wandering line.
The sand remembers, then forgets,
smoothing each mark back into time.

Beneath the patient, warming sun,
all paths dissolve to gold again.

  1. Beautiful brevity and great idea to write sandwaves. Perfect song to go with it too.

sidenote on my long-standing complaint about the lyrics: The line should be ‘nothing lasts forever; Not the Earth or sky…’

      1. Hanna Kah is a personal favorite of mine. I happened to meet them after gig in Geelong in Jan 2020, just before ‘Covid’… and they played this song during their show … at the time when bushfires were raging all over Australia … 🎵😍🌏
