Written for Cinquain Poetry Prompt #36 where
our inspiration word is “ego”. This is my cinquain.

ego
full of hot air
stretched thin with its own pride
the self inflates like a balloon
mirror
mirror
but prick it with a single truth
and watch the air escape
sputter, whimper
deflate

Very good, dear Keith!
The song was new to me, also, but I think it works.

What a fun video! Skyhooks must be Australia’s version of The Village People! I’m not exactly sure what’s going on here but it’s fun. Thanks my friend! 🥰🎶

Like the ‘Village People’, they were very popular here, back in those days, Nancy 🎵💜

A simple truth stings like a bee. Great poem, and this Marvin song. Can’t say I remember it.

You are so right, my friend! The ego can be surprisingly fragile. I did not know this Marvin song either but I thought it was pretty cool. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Ernie. Much appreciated.
