to get creative with the word “artificial”.
Thanks, Doc! Here’s my take.

The plant gods blessed me with a green thumb; however, I cannot for the life of me grow orchids. If you want an orchid dead, give it to me. The image you see above is of some of my house plants; the photo was taken this morning. All the plants are real and thriving …. except for the orchids. Any orchid plants you see in the image are artificial; that’s the only way I can have orchids that last more than two weeks.

I’m pleased it’s not just me! I have a huge amount of great big house plants. I sometimes wonder if orchids think they are too posh to share space with those common species!

Hahaha! Snooty bloomers!

I think one should only water the orchid when they become very dry.

Yes, I was told about 1/4 cup water weekly. Some say 3 ice cubes. My orchids were never over-watered. Go figure, Sis! 🤷🏼♀️

Lol! I used to have lots of indoor plants but they all died- so I’ve shifted them outside.

A year!? That would be a miracle! Our daughter-in-law has one that she keeps in the kitchen window over the sink, ignores it and it blooms continuously. Go figure.

Funny enough that’s where I had mine!

You are not alone. I too struggle to grow orchids. it’s infuriating! Great real and artificial plant selection though. I would never have known the orchids were artificial, if you hadn’t pointed it out.

They’ve come a long way from tacky plastic! 😂

I see you also have a lovely ‘Calathea Zebrina’ plant (on the right). Mine thrives outside in my fernery area …

Good eye, catching that plant tucked away among the others, dear Ivor. It’s a hearty one. I see yours doing very nicely, also. Thanks for the photo share.

It’s an old pic from 5 years ago, “Zebrina” is quite big these days

I can keep all plants alive but I let the orchids die because they were a real pain in the butt. I see them at Meijer Gardens and that’s enough. Your plants are gorgeous, Nancy! They have such good light where you have them.

It’s a wonderful room, Lisa; we get sun/light from dawn until around 3 or 4 p.m., depending on the season. I didn’t show my African violets or philodendrons; they’re on the other side of the room. And my Amaryllis is blooming again for the fourth time since Thanksgiving. I really should have included it in my photo. Thanks for your very nice comments, Lisa. Keep enjoying the orchids at Meijer Gardens!
