Making Magic

This is where the prompt took me.

The wedding planner surveyed the abandoned passageway with satisfaction. Tiny sparkling Christmas lights would transform these weathered brick walls into something enchanting. The reclaimed wood table stood ready, its X-frame legs steady on concrete that had known decades of neglect.

She remembered the couple’s request: “Nothing boring. Make some magic!”

Tonight, the alley was lost in dark shadows. By Christmas Eve, champagne would glisten with a holiday glow, laughter would echo where silence ruled, and love would bloom between these forgotten walls. She stepped back, imagining Christmas trees festooned with white lights. Perfect.

Sometimes the ordinary can become magically extraordinary!

    1. I agree, Lois. It must be challenging and exciting to be a wedding planner or an interior decorator. My husband is colorblind and because of that, he has no fear of throwing colors together that I would not normally think of doing. The results so far have been incredibly beautiful. I think sometimes what we see holds us back from what we can imagine. Have a great day and thank you.

  1. My brother had an outdoor wedding in August in Pennsylvania. The heat and humidity were brutal and we groomsmen were required to wear wool jackets. On the other hand, as the sun went down and everyone was dancing, fireflies sparkled on the big lawn around us making it seem magical.

    1. That sounds lovely, James …. and may be a little bit sweaty! One of our sons had an outdoor wedding eight years ago over the Mother’s Day weekend. It poured like you wouldn’t believe. Still, provisions were made and everything was beautiful. Thanks for a great comment.

I’m sorry to hear that you have to sign in to leave a comment. That’s a drag. I’m going to talk to WordPress about that; seems like a big inconvenience to my readers. Thank you for letting me know.
