RDP Wednesday: thunderstruck

Written for RDP, where sgeoil asks us
to get creative with the word ‘thunderstruck’.
Thanks, Heather! Here’s my take.

The bedroom door opened. Pierre braced himself …. white satin, probably lace.

But Marielle emerged in crimson silk, the color of poinsettias and holly berries, her Christmas wedding dress blazing against the winter morning light.

“Papa?”

Thunderstruck. That was the only word. Not at the color …. though yes, red …. but at the woman before him, radiant and certain, who’d stopped asking his permission years ago.

“You look,” he managed, throat tight, “magnifique.”

She grinned. “Merry Christmas, Papa.”

  1. A lovely story Nancy. It is the only bit of Aussie rock you could have used for the prompt.
It has so many versions with so many different instruments. This is the first time I have heard this version

    1. Thank you so much, Penny! I remember going to my cousin’s wedding years ago. It was Christmastime and she wore a red dress and everyone thought it was totally scandalous. I loved it and told her so. I have a feeling I might have been the only one. So glad you enjoyed my story.
