Our gracious host, Rochelle, at Friday Fictioneers
encourages us to be creative by writing a story in
100 words or less using the photo shown below.
Here’s where the photo prompt took me.

The words “I can’t” shattered her like glass. Three hundred faces stared. Her chest burned with rage and humiliation as she fled down the aisle, each step a scream her throat wouldn’t release. Outside, she ripped the veil from her hair and hurled it onto the concrete rubble behind the church. Let it rot there. Let the flowers wither like her trust, like every promise he’d made. She wanted to set it all on fire – the dress, the day, the fool she’d been. Instead, she walked away, leaving that delicate white lie crumpled in the dirt where it belonged.

Dear Nancy,
Wow! Better before she said “I do.” In the end I think she’s be happy, although a dramatic break up for sure. Well done.

Rochelle

Thanks, Rochelle. I agree with you completely. While I’m sure what he did came as a complete shock, once the dust settles she will realize it’s for the best. Still, that doesn’t excuse his lousy behavior!

Nancy, I’m sorry he hurt her. She made the right choice in not taking the next step and walking away. I like Billie Eilish. Her song flames all of the way through.

In time she will come to realize this was the best thing that could have happened although it hurts like hell right now, and the way he handled it was like a kick to the gut. Thanks for your comments, Lisa. I’m glad you enjoyed it my story and the song.

Thanks very much, Mark. At first glance without my glasses, I mistook the flowers for a bridal veil. When I realized my mistake, I decided to just go with that premise anyway. Pleased to know you enjoyed it.

Whose lie, hers or his?

Good question, James; I think it’s safe to assume it’s his lie but who knows.

Thanks Lisa! I’m pleased to know you enjoyed my story. I’m in pain, which is to be expected just two days after surgery. Writing keeps my mind occupied. I’m hopeful when I get my custom fit splint on Monday that I’ll be a little more comfortable. Thank you for asking..

Thank you so much for asking, Esther. I’m in pain, but it’s only been two days since the surgery. I find I am most happy when my mind is engaged in something creative. Using the Dictation app helps a lot; I’m right handed and can do very little with my left hand. I’m glad you enjoyed the story; I’m sure this scenario has played out many times. Thank you.

Thanks so much for your good wishes, Michele. I’m uncomfortable and my hand hurts but I find if I’m doing some writing and my mind is occupied, I can deal with it. This is a sad story, but I’m sure it’s happened before. I appreciate your comments.

After she’s vented her anger, she’ll be glad to be rid of him. What a piece of sh$$, to do that.
