Today at RDP, sgeoil asks us
to get creative with the word ‘flinty’.
Thanks, Heather! Here’s my take.

flinty winter sky
steel-gray clouds press down on earth
promises of snow

Beautiful, Nancy. And you and Chat made a beauty of an image to go with!
Promises are big time reality here 😉 We got a serious dumping of the “heart attack” kind. Methinks there will be sightings of many snowmen on my way home.

Thank you!! Chat really got the message and delivered what I wanted.
No!! It’s too soon! We had gusty winds and flurries all day but it petered out around 3:00. Thank God! I’m not ready for snow yet and I have a feeling it’s going to be a bad winter. ☃️

Spot-on description and prose of skies here in PA today, Nancy. Not cold enough yet for snow to be sure, but our clouds were definitely getting their practice in. Enjoyed the tune here as well.

Thanks very much, Bruce. It was a typical gray November day in NY and the scene outside my window was my muse. Simon & Garfunkel are lovely together.

Oh man, that’s my landscape right now! Started as sleet, turned to coarse snow. Everything flinty in the dark, but hopefully will be beautifully white tomorrow.

It must be lovely …. just too early for snow! It’s going to be a long, cold winter.

Oddly, this song is not about winter, as it is about reflecting on your journey up to that point that you are at in life and realizing that a stage of life that you have gone through is over. Paul Simon seems to be lamenting about how he was looking for something (or someone) perfect, but he never found it, and now time is running out on his dreams.
