Written for Sue & Gerry’s Weekly Prompts
Colour Challenge using the word ‘grey/gray’.
The prompt inspired me to write my first triolet.

In the shadows of war, the world turns gray
Echoes of battles, haunting and stark
Lives torn asunder, in disarray
In the shadows of war, the world turns gray
Hope fades, like the last light of day
Sorrow and loss leave a lasting mark
In the shadows of war, the world turns gray
Echoes of battles, haunting and stark

Your poetic observations add another level of understanding to these chaotic and violent scenes. Thank you for this piece, Nancy. ✌🏻

Many thanks, Michele. It’s heartbreaking but the reality is this madness will never stop. 😔

Now that really is grey. A sombre piece indeed, Nancy.

Apologies – Nancy!!! I think the anaesthetic from my op at the end of last week is still in me. Yesterday, I put stuff in the fridge by mistake and vice versa.

No worries, Esther. Sorry to hear about an op; I do hope you’re on the mend. ❤️🩹
