This week at Glyn Wilton’s Mixed Music Bag,
he’s asking us to write about a song in which
the title or a line mentions the current month.
Here’s my October artists and their song.

We’re already well into the 2nd week of October and Glyn Wilton’s Mixed Music Bag. Here’s a look at the song/artists I’ve chosen to feature this week.
The Rasmus is a Finnish rock band formed in Helsinki in 1994, consisting of vocalist Lauri Ylönen, bassist Eero Heinonen, guitarist Emppu Suhonen, and drummer Aki Hakala. They are known for their blend of rock, alternative rock, and pop rock. Their first appearance was at their school’s Christmas party; since then, they have sold millions of albums worldwide and gained international success. Everybody’s got to start somewhere!
Anette Olzon is a Swedish singer best known as a former lead vocalist for the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. She began her career in the Swedish band Alyson Avenue before joining Nightwish, with whom she recorded two albums. After leaving Nightwish, she has focused on her solo career and formed the metal project The Dark Element. She is also a registered nurse who has balanced her music career with her work in healthcare.
The Rasmus and Anette Olzon collaborated on the 2009 symphonic rock song “October & April”. The Rasmus featured Olzon on the single for their compilation album, Best of 2001–2009. “October & April” uses the contrast of the dark, cold season of October and the bright, warm season of April to metaphorically represent a couple who are fundamentally different and are facing a doomed relationship due to irreconcilable disputes and controversy. The song was recorded in 2008 and released as a single in late 2009.
This is “October & April” by The Rasmus with Anette Olzon

Very cool, dear Ivor! The opening chords reminded me a bit of Deep Purple. I see we’re both into the Nordic sound lately. Symphonic rock …. I like it! 🎶

There’s lots of great music 🎶 from the Scandinavian area, Nancy… especially 2 of my favourites, Poets of the Fall and Sivet Hoyem

Poets of the Fall is a favorite of mine as well, dear Ivor, but I’m not familiar with Sivet Hoyem. I’ll check them out.

Hi Nancy I love both Razmus and Anette Olzon …. This is my favourite song by Razmus and I have been inspired to write poems on the subject of lost lovers. 💜💜
