Our gracious host, Rochelle, encourages us
to be creative by writing a story in 100 words
or less using the photo prompt below. This is
Friday Fictioneers. Here’s where the photo took me.

After Uncle Bobby disappeared in his homemade rocket, we missed him something awful. His best bud, Gipper Jones, took the news bad and started stopping by Pete’s Pub every night, getting stewed to the gills, regaling the patrons with Uncle Bobby escapades. He got plastered one night, drove off the road and totaled his car in the woods. In the hospital, Gipper swore the only reason for the accident was an “Uncle Bobby sighting”. Found in Gipper’s car was a telescope, a fifth of Old Crow and his Dick Tracy two-way radio….just like Uncle Bobby’s. We sure hope Gipper’s right.

Quite the character, or I should say characters. Fun read.

Hard to tell what Uncle Bobby’s up to. I think the simple beauty of Gipper’s statement is that no one really knows for sure. Thanks, Laurie.

What a great voice, and at last there’s hope for Uncle Bobby. I love every little detail, and the choice of song is perfect too.

I love the delicious details in here, Nancy. Gipper’s name and what was found in the car. It doesn’t matter if he really saw Uncle Bobby or not. He believed he did (paraphrase from X Files.)

Hahaha! Yes …. very true, Lisa. And why would we tell him otherwise? Thanks very much. I’m glad to know you enjoyed this Uncle Bobby installment.

Uncle Bobby was quite the daredevil, and I guess his rocket crashed shortly after takeoff because he was drinking too much whiskey.

That’s the plan! The beauty of Uncle Bobby is being able to write back stories so no need to wait for him to re-appear. Thank you!

Is he based on a real person?

Yes, he’s a combination of a ne’er-do-well handy-man I know and the character Ralph Kramden played by the actor Jackie Gleason on an old tv show called “The Honeymooners”.
