What Do You Want?

Written for Thursday Inspiration #296
“With A Girl LikeYou
”. Here’s my take.

For this week’s Thursday Inspiration prompt, Jim Adams asks us to respond to the challenge by using the prompt word want’, referring to the song “With A Girl Like You” by the Throggs or another one of their songs, or by anything else we feel fits. I cogitated on this for about 15 seconds and came to this conclusion: Everybody wants something …. and usually it’s another person who wants them back.  No matter what gets your motor running, we all want someone for something.

Now I could have gone with Dean Martin’s great hit song “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime” but I decided to get right to the nitty gritty about wanting. As far as I’m concerned, the song I chose fits the bill rather nicely.

PSA: I’m not going to tell you anything about the band, which is Cheap Trick. Not a cheap trick; the band is named Cheap Trick. You have better things to do than sit around all day reading this post. If you really want to know about them, go here.

And you’re really going to love me today because YouTube has provided some fabulous info about the song/video. It’s printed below the video and you can read it for yourself, if you want; if not, just listen to the song and watch the vid. I guarantee, it’s pretty cool!

Have a great day! Enjoy the music.

This is “I Want You To Want Me” by Cheap Trick

LYRICS

I want you to want me
I need you to need me
I’d love you to love me
I’m beggin’ you to beg me
I want you to want me
I need you to need me
I’d love you to love me
I’ll shine up my old brown shoes
I’ll put on a brand new shirt
I’ll get home early from work
If you say that you love me
Didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I
See you cryin’ (cryin, cryin’)
Oh, didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I
See you cryin’ (cryin, cryin’)
Feelin’ all alone without a friend
You know you feel like dyin’ (dyin’, dyin’)
Oh, didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I
See you cryin’ (cryin’, cryin’)
I want you to want me
I need you to need me
I’d love you to love me
I’m beggin’ you to beg me
I’ll shine up my old brown shoes
I’ll put on a brand new shirt
I’ll get home early from work
If you say that you love me
Didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I
See you cryin’ (cryin, cryin’)
Oh, didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I
See you cryin’ (cryin, cryin’)
Feelin’ all alone without a friend
You know you feel like dyin’ (dyin’, dyin’)
Oh, didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I
See you cryin’ (cryin’, cryin’)
Feelin’ all alone without a friend
You know you feel like dyin’ (dyin’, dyin’)
Oh, didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I
See you cryin’ (cryin’, cryin’)
I want you to want me
I need you to need me
I’d love you to love me
I’m beggin’ you to beg me

  1. Great choice, Nancy and it was nice to hear this again. It’s healthy to want to be wanted in a relationship, as long as it’s a balanced dynamic where both partners feel desired and appreciated, not just one-sided or based on obligation.
