Who Let The Dogs Out?

Written for dVerse Poets Quadrille #230 –
“Let’s Kick Up A Rumpus!”
Our host Kim
invites us to write a poem in exactly 44
words, one of which must be the word
“rumpus”. What fun! Here’s my quadrille.

Three bulldogs, short and stout,
Heading to the yard, no doubt!
A trampoline, big and round,
Bouncing was soon to be found.

A rumpus loud, a joyful bark,
Bulldogs bounding; what a lark!
Short legs flying, ears a-flap,
Hear those doggies going yappity yap!

  1. I enjoyed your joyful quadrille Nancy, and had fun imagining three bulldogs on a trampoline with their ‘short legs flying, ears a-flap! I remember that John Lewis advert. Thanks for joining us.

    1. I know the name of my poem was misleading, Sis; that is something I do fairly often and have a lot of fun confusing people with it! It’s good to hear that fun song by the Baha Men and especially seeing this incredibly adorable and heartwarming advert. I think I’ve only seen it once before and had forgotten about it; it’s perfect! Thanks for the reminder. 🤎🐶🤎
