Prompt #426 using the word ‘plethora’;
in exactly 67 words, this is my take.

Little faces, bright, alight,
a window to a world unseen.
A room of toys, a sudden sight,
awakens dreams, pristine.
A plethora of colors boldly gleams,
red balls, dolls, and trains of blue,
of bursting, happy, playful schemes,
a wish, made fresh and new.
Each toy a promise, gently told,
of stories yet to be begun.
Adventures brave, and tales so bold,
and hours of never-ending fun.

Full of excitement, Nancy, ..and such gleeful expectation, …and I love the word ‘plethora‘….I first ‘met it’ in a film, ..The Three Amigos, …I’ve never forgotten it, …a brilliant and so descriptive a word, …💙

It’s a great word and The Three Amigos is so funny! I know some people who look down on movies like that, saying they’re stupid and a waste of time. Well, I say too bad for them! Everyone needs a little mindless fun, to just watch and laugh and forget the troubles of the world for 90 minutes. Sorry …. I don’t usually climb on the soap box! 😎

I agree with every word Nancy, …and I’ll join you on that soapbox, ….I love every bit of that film,…the singing bush, the invisible Swordsman, …El Guapo was priceless,…😂

Bill and I watched with the boys when they were young. Now they’re grown and flown with kids of their own and we still watch. There’s nothing like a good laugh. That’s why I love Mel Brooks so much.

I’d never heard that Bowie song before, expresses dreams soon to pass before the heavy mantle of adulthood. I love how your poem celebrates the pure happiness of childhood!

A lovely poem, and where did you find that song?! That album was a budget label release after Bowie had a hit with Space Oddity, and I think I was the only person who bought it!

Thanks, Clive! I dug deep for that one, going into the dark web! 😂

There were a whole series of ‘The World Of’ albums, all at the price of less than two singles. I had quite a few 👍
