Our gracious host, Rochelle, at Friday Fictioneers
asks us to use the photo below as inspiration
to write creatively in 100 words or less while
making every word count. This is my flash.

David stood at the entrance to the chapel, heart racing; it was a big day for him and Abby. How had they come this far so fast?
The chapel doors swung open and Abby appeared, looking radiant. With each step, her silver-white wedding gown shimmered, hugging her figure perfectly. Her veil cascaded down her back like a silken waterfall.
Now they stood facing each other, their love obvious to all. Raising Abby’s hands to his lips, David softly kissed them. “You ready, honey?” His eyes brimmed with tears; Abby gently brushed them away as she whispered “I love you, Daddy”.

Such a beauitful moment you let us feel there – and the song was sweet and a bit sad (in a good way)- but all of this was also good timing for the upcoming Father’s Day holiday

Beautiful writing, Nancy. I love “the veil cascaded down her back like a silken waterfall.” So writerly! Love the twist at the end too.

This photo of a gorgeous white train immediately had me thinking of a wedding gown train and it just progressed from there. Thanks for a beautiful comment, Susan; I really appreciate it!

Dear Nancy,
What a lovely twist at the end. Beautifully told story. I didn’t know that Katey Sagal was a recording artist. (Of course there’s a whole raft of things I don’t know 😉 ) So here’s a song that my mind went to. It was one that made my daddy cry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qavJ91jRPfU

Thanks very much, Rochelle. I saw a photo of one train and pictured another train in my head!
That Mike Douglas song is a real touch of sweet sentimentality. Thanks for the share.

Who knew she could sing?!

Thanks so much, Dawn! Katey’s been singing for a long time, starting as a background singer for Bette Midler and the Harlettes.

Precious story. Is that Peg Bundy singing? 😃🎶

Thank you! Yes, it is indeed Peg! One of her earliest gigs was as background singer for Bette Midler and the Harlettes. Talented lady. 🎶 🎭

Thank you, Brenda! I hoped the twist wasn’t too subtle. We do the best we can with 100 words.

She’s wonderful, Tiffany. In her early days she sang backup for Bette Midler and the Harlettes! Now, that must have been quite something! I love this song, too.

So glad you got the shift, Jodi. I was afraid my intent might have gotten lost in only 100 words. I didn’t want people thinking this was some kind of weird wedding! 😂

I didn’t ask my daughter if she was ready before walking her down the aisle. Instead I said, “Are you sure you wanna marry this schlub? It’s not too late to call it off.”
Four years later they got divored..
