This week at Glyn Wilton’s Mixed Music Bag,
he’s asking us to write about a song in which
the title or a line mentions the current month.
Here’s my featured March artist and his song.

Van Morrison never burned out or faded away, and it’s unlikely he’ll succumb to either option for the foreseeable future. At 80, he’s eschewed the lucrative nostalgia circuit and the lure of retirement. In fact, he’s on a roll and planning another tour!
Three Chords & The Truth is the 41st studio album by the legendary singer-songwriter from Northern Ireland. Released in October 2019, the album was his sixth record in four years; it reached the Top 20 in seven countries.
My first featured song for the last week of March is “March Winds In February”, the opening track from Three Chords & The Truth. The song has a beautiful warm feel as Morrison sings of Spring on the Côte d’Azur and it’s allure as the warmer winds begin whispering their sweet messages in February. It’s not a very wordy song, as you can see, but Van Morrison delivers, as always.
I have one more post scheduled for Gyn’s final March challenge; it’s coming up in just a bit so stick around and I’ll see you then!
But first, this is “March Winds In February” by Van Morrison
LYRICS
March winds in February
Signaling spring
March winds in February
It’s that kind of thing
Restless writer can write
For a singer to sing
Me, myself, and the other
For something to bring to
March winds in February
It’s a challenge for sure
March winds in February
On the Côte d’Azur
On the Côte d’Azur
When your heart is pure
And the sky is blue
And the sea is too
And your eyes open wide
Happy tonight
But you’re feeling sad
You just can’t hide from
March winds in February
It’s a challenge for sure
March winds in February
On the Côte d’Azur
On the Côte d’Azur
When your heart is pure
And the sky is blue
And the sea is too
But you’re feeling sad
Happy tonight
Eyes open wide
You just can’t hide from
March winds in February
It’s a challenge for sure
March winds in February
On the Côte d’Azur
March winds in February
It’s that kind of thing
March winds in February
And it’s coming on Spring
And it’s coming on Spring
And it’s coming on Spring
Yeah, here’s looking at you, kid
Here’s looking at you
Here’s looking at you, child
Here’s looking at you
What more can I do for you?
What more can I do?
Here’s looking at you, child
What more can I do?
March winds in February
It’s a challenge for sure
March winds in February
On the Côte d’Azur

He’s known to be a curmudgeonly old fella, but a great musician nonetheless. He’s older than me too – though not by very much!

It’s nice to read about someone older than us, isn’t it? LOL! Honestly, I never got the impression he was a laugh riot but he sure is an extremely talented dude!

Van is the man. I didn’t realize he was 80, so that makes me old too.

He’ll be 80 in August so I was rounding up a bit, which, at our age, is probably not the smartest thing to do. I am definitely in the senior citizen column among my list of WordPress friends. I’m not sure why I’m limiting it to WP friends; I’m old no matter how you slice it!
