Written for dVerse Poets: Quadrille #220 –
‘Engrave Your Name Across My Heart’.
We are asked to write a quadrille using
the word ‘engrave’. This is my quad.

Upon ancient
stone engraved
glows
a tale of love
inscribed in
golden light.
Every word,
a memory
bestows,
echoes through
the night.
Love eternal
etched,
and bright
glorious words
never fade.
Engraved
upon my heart
in sweet
delight,
every line
your presence
is portrayed.

A moving poem, Nancy, full of a passion deeply felt.

This is so very lovely Nancy. 🩷👏well done.
I failed in my attempt at this prompt—it’s driven me crazy!

I have! I spent hours on the poem—but used the word etched! I misread the prompt. In my mind and engrave became etch! It’s been an interesting and frustrating test. I realise the word engrave doesn’t scan the same as etch! I couldn’t get engrave to work. I’m a miserable failure and shall never write poetry again. xx

Well, in that case, I can’t blame you one bit! 😂😎

The correct response was of course “Oh no! What a loss to poetry!” 😂

It was implied, a tacit comment too dreadful to contemplate! ☺️

Welcome to the Poets Pub, Nancy, and thank you for linking up your quadrille. I like the way you used not only the prompt word but a number of synonyms, and especially the ‘tale of love inscribed in golden light’.
