Ovi Poem

Family Tree

Written for Ovi Poetry Challenge #91.
This week’s inspiration word is
“wisdom”. Keeping with the year’s
theme of positivity, this is my Ovi.

The ancient oak holds endless sway
Our elders have wise words to say
Our worries and our fears allay
Calmness

Through tangled paths where fears reside
Wisdom dwells, a gentle guide
No need to run away and hide
Steadfast

Not knowledge sought in dusty tome
Nor ancient cities far to roam
But whispers heard within the home
Perceptive

Of cycles turning, ebb and flow
And scattered leaves of autumn blow
Where seeds of understanding grow
Nurturing

The wind it sighs a story told
Of ages past and futures bold
The glory days of loved ones old
Courage

And in the quiet listen well
To echoes that the oak trees tell
The love within your heart will swell
Patient

No stronger love is there to find
Or tender heart and open mind
A truth that’s patient, pure and kind
Grandparents
