This week at Glyn Wilton’s Mixed Music Bag,
he’s asking us to write about a song in which
the title or a line mentions the current month.
Here’s my featured March artists and their song.

Well, my peeps. I’ve been somewhat indisposed with a bad stomach bug my sweet Colette shared with me. Let me tell you, it has not been easy staying in the WordPress game this week, so when I came across this little ditty, I knew I had struck gold! “Eureka” I cried so loudly, Bill came rushing in to make sure I hadn’t passed out and fallen in the bathroom!
Get out your Funk-O-Meters, my friends and get ready for a treat! I’m not quite sure exactly what’s going on in this video but that’s OK; some things just don’t need to be explained. What I know for sure is these beautiful, free-spirited people know how to have a good time! And wouldn’t you know it …. I have the exact same outfit stuffed into a tissue box!
This is one rare gem and I’m truly diggin’ it. If this doesn’t make you wanna get up and dance, you better check your pulse; you might be dead!

Boney M. is a reggae, funk, and disco music group founded in 1974; they achieved popularity during the disco era of the late 1970s. The band was created by German record producer Frank Farian, who was the group’s primary songwriter and singer. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the band’s official lineup were Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, Maizie Williams from Montserrat, and Bobby Farrell from Aruba. The band has sold millions of records worldwide and has recorded many international hits.
Let’s get it on! This is “Calendar Song” by Boney M. Everybody, sing along!

I’m improving but this virus has thrown me for a loop. It’s taking a lot longer to pass than I thought. Thanks for your good wishes. ☺️

It would be a really good song to use to teach kids the months. It’s catchy, and the steel drums are just cool…

Boney M had several hits in the 70s, especially in the UK. I didn’t know they released a version of The Calendar Song though.I hope you’re soon feeling better Nancy.

From what I read, Glyn, they were very successful in the UK. Thanks for your good wishes.

I haven’t heard these guys since I was a whipper snapper. We’d listen to the old heads rapping about this and that while they were sipping on a little something. As the tracks played in the background, “What you know about this, Youngblood?” Of course, we knew nothing, but we learned. I never imagined we would one day be sprouting our version of “What you know about that?” Great track, Nancy … thanks for the memory.

This was a very enjoyable song Nancy, and I hope that you recover from the stomach bug soon. This thing I liked best about your post is when you said that you have the exact same outfit stuffed in a box and I wonder why you don’t wear it all the time, as I am sure that everyone would love to see you in it.

Thanks for your good wishes, Jim. I’ve just about had it with this bug!
Regarding the outfit, that’s a great idea! I might go straight to the head of the line at CVS when picking up my prescriptions!

Boney M were huge here for a couple of years. Unfortunately my wife loved them so I had to endure one of their albums being played a lot. One of the many musical crimes of the disco era!

Maybe your wife was trying to drive you out of the house! 🤣
This is my first time seeing this video. These beautiful people and their energy put a big smile on my face. 😁
It also proves the point that there are all types of songs about the month of March on the net; one just needs to look for them. 😎

It worked, albeit taking quite a while! I didn’t know this one either, but it sounds like everything else I’ve heard from them. A distinctive sound.
