Written for Ovi Poetry Challenge #87.
This week’s inspiration word is
“focus”. Keeping with this year’s
theme of positivity, this is my Ovi.

Night Cafe

Some people like to shout
Professing serious doubt
And in circles run about
Look for the clear

Some people like to moan
To clutch their guts and groan
And act like they’re half-grown
Look for the strong

Some people like to bitch
To constantly scratch an itch
And pick at a loose stitch
Look for the settled

Some people lose their patience
They get swept up in the nonsense
And forget they have a conscience
Look for the steady

Some people are in the now
They don’t think about the how
And distractions do not allow
Retain your focus
