Written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt #400,
prompt word “utter”; Sue & Gerry’s Weekly Prompts –
The One-Day Prompt; David Stewart’s Muse on Monday;
FOWC “disorder”, FOWC “hate”, FOWC “glance”
and FOWC “reluctance”. In 92 words, this is my story.

Sandy stole a glance at her reflection, already knowing what to expect. Still, she let out a groan of utter dismay; her entire face and neck were covered with bright red rosacea blotches.
“Hate” is a strong word but Sandy couldn’t help it; this skin disorder had lousy timing! Today was her big interview at the tv station for the job of meteorologist. The one day she needed to look her best and she was a mess!
With great reluctance Sandy called the station manager to cancel her interview. What a bummer!

I sympathize with her. Last fall, I had a bunch of meetings set up with prospective agents (about 50 over 4 days) and the day before I got a huge pimple right at the end of my nose. Not much you can do but just power through. 🙂

Oh, the humanity!
Why is it always on the nose?
You’re right, though. Nothing we can do!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, David.

l feel her pain! Hubby has rosacea, he discovered tannin is his trigger so he avoids all things with Tannin in ….he really misses a nice cup of ordinary tea! … luckily he can drink peppermint tea 💜💜

He’s lucky to have found the cause and solution. Some people suffer with it terribly, running back and forth to the dermatologist.
I love peppermint tea. I’m a decaf girl so that’s perfect for me when I’m coffee’d out! 🤎🫖🤎

Yes he still suffers with it and occasionally has to give in and get help but if he steers clear of tannin in all it’s forms it helps.💜💜

Very true. Or a radio meteorologist!

Poor Sandy. Mind you, if she suffers from such a skin condition, maybe working on TV is not ideal…

Kinda funny and related, my husband is going to MC my moms celebration of life this weekend and he keeps breaking out in red patches on his face, he is freaking out! I told him it’s probably brought on my nerves, gotta relax! 😂

Stress will do that. He needs some of those Fukitol pills! 😂

Oh dear! She should have just put on a mask, in this day and age, no one would have blinked.

Now, that is an impressive number of prompts. Very well-crafted story. I would have never noticed the prompts had you not mentioned them.

Thanks, Violet. I like to store up my FOWC prompts for stories like this. It’s a fun way to use up a bunch of good words sitting in my files.

Yes, what a bummer, indeed. But your post wasn’t a bummer at all. Thank you for using my words, but you did a great job incorporating a number of other prompts into a well-told 92-word story. Your storytelling never disappoints, Nancy.
