Written for Friday Fictioneers where our host Rochelle
asks us to use the photo below as inspiration
to write creatively in 100 words or less while
making every word count. This is my flash.

“There! We’re finally done!”
“It ain’t centered.”
“Say what?”
“It ain’t centered. The flippin’ candelabra ain’t centered on the ceiling.”
“It’s a chandelier and it’s PERFECTLY centered!”
“Who cares…..candelabra, chandelier? It’s a fippin’ lamp!”
“A candelabra is a large candlestick that sits atop a table or piano. A chandelier is suspended from a ceiling. That’s a chandelier.”
“It still ain’t centered. What should we do?”
“Nothing. They won’t even notice.”
“How’s that?”
“They’re gonna be drinking while oohing and aahing the gigantic Christmas tree. In two months, m’lady will be bored with it.”
“Flippin’ rich folk! Let’s get a beer.”

Dear Nancy,
I love the dialogue. Sounds like my husband and me. I’m just a bit OCD when it comes to the proper name of something. And then there’s grammar…oy, you shouldn’t ask. 😉 Love the song.

Rochelle

Thanks, Sandra. I can’t imagine looking at something askew day after day and living with it.

Very humorous and sounds about right.
I like that song and looked up the band and was surprised they are German. Three Musketeer hotties!

Thanks, Lisa! Yes, they are German and they’re indeed hot. Candice Night is Mrs. Ritchie Blackmore. 🍻

Even if I was as drunk as a skunk I’d notice it, and even look for a ladder and have a go at straightening it. On second thoughts, that would probably not be a good idea!

No! Especially if you’re drunk as a skunk! Stay off the ladders!
PS – It would drive me nuts, too!

Haha! Yeah, I’ve got a weakness for long hair too, Sis! 😎💛 It’s got to be my heavy metal days! 🤘🏼

I agree, it is a chandelier, but if it is off-center, it would drive me nuts every time I looked at it.

There’s a lot of truth in those words! And brownie points for the tune: I played that for Tuesday Tunes several months ago but didn’t think anyone else knew it!

PS – The guy at the corner of the bar who peeks up from his drink is Ritchie Blackmore.

It’s a fun tune and as soon as I wrote “They’re gonna be drinking”, I knew I had to add the song!

You did well to know it. I like the band and have played them before – the Germans often collaborate on each others’ records and YouTube is good at finding them.
