Vague murmurings of pirates from the Occident did not deter them.
Fear quickly set in upon sighting a buccaneer ship with blood-red sails.

  1. Good mind jolt, Nancy. As a child, when the family visited the island village of Port Aransas on the Texas coast every summer, I found myself yearning to sail the Gulf in a pirate ship. The closest I got was in a wooden rowboat in the ship channel, an old salt seaman at the helm ferrying myself and father to Saint Joe Island, which is where the famous pirate Jean Laffite buried some booty. After digging a few holes with my small shovel, I gave up and went back to being the reincarnate of Mark Twain.

    1. Sounds lovely to me, Phil. When I was a child, I was fascinated by pirate movies; Errol Flynn was my hero and I’d watch, impatiently waiting for the inevitable confrontation with the evil Ramon Navarro while the thrilling battle between the ships raged in the background. That was my dream …. a pirate’s life for me, Yo Ho Ho!

      Thanks, Phil!
