Here is my story.
sighs ă» fire ă» flip ă» ravaged ă» blue ă» floor ă»
emerge ă» masks ă» ashes ă» soak ă» skin ă» weave

Carly eased into the hot bath and let out a couple of contented sighs; a good long soak was just what she needed. One of her aromatic botanical facial masks, a glass of wine and nothing but peace and quiet. Leaning back, she closed her eyes, her lips forming a cat-like smile as thoughts of Rick filled her head.
After a short while, there was a soft knock on the bathroom door. Rick peeked in and was bewitched by the vision before him. Carly looked like a Roman goddess as she slowly started to emerge from the tub. With outstretched arms she beckoned Rick. They fell into a deep embrace; he began to kiss her face and weave his fingers through her lustrous auburn hair. Carlyâs skin was silky smooth and she smelled like sweet nectar.
It was all to much for Rick. Swooping Carly up into his arms, he carried her into the living room, gently placing her on the blue shag rug which covered the floor near the fireplace. The glowing embers in the ashes were reflected in Carlyâs eyes; Rick  was consumed with a burning desire.
âPrepare to be ravaged, my golden goddessâ Rick hungrily whispered in Carlyâs ear, his hands skillfully working the zipper of his burgeoning jeans. âFlip for me, my wild tigress. Show me your gorgeousâŠâŠâ
Suddenly there was a loud crash and Carlyâs eyeâs flew open. What the hell? Somehow she was still in the tub, facial mask dried onto her face, wine glass floating in the now tepid bath water. A voice like that of a rusty shopping cart called to her from the other side of the shower curtain:
âMom! Are you ever coming out of there??â Carlyâs daughter Beth pleaded. âWeâre starving!â
Carly groaned and slid under the water as her dream swirled down the drain.

This one hit too close to home lol. I’ve had some downtime waiting for our dumpster rental and I’ve been using it to learn more about writing short stories like this. You do a great job painting a picture, and I hope to have this kind of skill someday! Thanks for the inspiration!

Poor Carly. When duty calls, dreams must wait indeed. I never saw that ending coming!

Great! I was hoping people weren’t thinking I turned into a cheap romance novelist! Sorry, I can’t take that stuff seriously. Thanks, D!

The beginning of a romance novel shattered by reality, but if the song is from Carly’s youth, it is well past the time when her daughter, Beth, should have learned to prepare her own meals.

Youâd think, right?!
Poetic license and all that jazz. Point well taken. The song is from the authorâs past; in the world of fiction, anything goes! đ
Thanks, Allen.

I think the story and the song’s inclusion demonstrated that no matter how old you might be dreams never fade.
