Written for dVerse Quadrille Monday #206.
Our prompt word is ‘bend; here is my poem.

I long to be myself again,
before the pain began.
Now wistfully staring at
old photos
of a younger me,
lithe with slender arms
and shapely legs
which once did bend
with graceful ease.
Dancing dreams fill my nights;
I want to sleep forever.

Pain overshadows so much of life. I hope and pray yours can be relieved. (I read your more recent post, and will be praying for you.)

Oh Nancy, this is absolutely beautiful and heartfelt and poignant. I think the hardest part about aging is the body’s unwillingness to follow at the same speed as when it was young. Add pain to the equation and it’s just so damn unfair.
Sending you lots of healing love.

Don’t you dare make me cry, girl! It doesn’t take much these days. Wrapping my arms around that healing love. 🫶

I just want to sleep a couple of hours. I seem to get by on 3 hours. But what do I do all day? No energy! Thank god for the computer.

The aging process is so much more painful when pain changes our abilities …. 💞
