WARNING: THIS BLOG WAS NOT CREATED FOR BEATLEMANIACS!
If you’re on the fence about the Beatles or if you just don’t like them,
this blog is for you. My goal is not to convert you; it’s to expose you
to the lesser-known Beatles songs we don’t hear day in and day out.
These great tunes will show you just how amazing the Beatles are.
Of course, if you are a Beatles fan, pull up a chair and enjoy the tunes!

Welcome back to Feb Fab Faux Four!
Today’s song is a real beauty and I don’t think there’s any way it can be improved upon. It’s the first piece I’ve featured so far by one of the Beatles during his solo career. The song serves as a confession in which the singer addresses feelings of inadequacy that resulted in pain for those he loved.
This song was never released as a single during the singer’s lifetime; there are more than 90 remakes but it was this cover that became an international hit in early 1981. I can think of another Beatles song that is one of the most covered songs of all time.
Ease into your Sunday morning with this lovely piece.
Here’s today’s lineup:
This is the beautiful, soulful “Jealous Guy” by John Lennon.
🪲
And this is Roxy Music with their #1 version of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy”
Very much alike, these two versions …. and I’m glad about that. It’s too lovely a piece to be changed dramatically; I think Roxy Music knew that and chose to stay close to the original. Bryan Ferry’s voice is perfect for this tune.
Join me again tomorrow for something I’m willing to bet you never heard before.
See you on the flip side. 😎

PS – If any video won’t play for you, I’ve provided the name of the song and who did it so you can find it on YouTube. It’s a pain in the ass but it does happen from time to time. My apologies.

This is the first one so far where I think Ferry gives Lennon a run for his money. I instantly cave to Bryan Ferry’s voice, what can I say? 🙂

I prefer the Roxy Music version, but they are both very similar.
(I don’t know if you’re aware, Nancy, but your Misky Fab Four image isn’t showing for some reason… the videos are playing fine for me!)

No, I was not aware of the images not showing! I wonder why that is. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, Tom.

I thought it was just my reader playing up at first, but the images aren’t in the browser either.

That’s really upsetting to me bc Misky’s graphics are so wonderful and they add so much to my blog. I’m going to try to find out what happened and how I can fix it. Thanks, Tom.

I hope so. It’s surprising that no one else has brought this to my attention. I’m going to ask a few people about it. Thanks, Tom.

I went through all the posts and I think it’s sorted out now. I asked another friend and she can see all the images. Thanks Tom

That’s good. I’ve just checked my end, and the images are showing here now as well (reader, post and browser, although I had to refresh the post viewer a few times!)
There are some quirky things going on! 🤪 😁

This time my vote goes to Lennon. It really is a beautiful song and while Roxy Music does a fine job, they didn’t make it their own.

Lennon got my vote, too. They’re both quite touching songs, I thought.

Yes. But Lennon’s voice is softer, more intimate, even.

He’s also a first class whistler!
I’m doing some investigating, Dale. My friend Tom told me he’s unable to see the graphic of the Faux Four which I’ve been using on this blog since Day 1. Do you see the image with ©Misky beneath it.

Was he? Nice to know.
That’s too bad for your friend Tom. I see it. It’s the cutest thing!

This is my first time listening to the Roxy Music cover and it is almost right up there with the original.

I thought so, too, Jim; well, it was the only cover to become an international hit, beating out more than 90 other cover versions. That’s quite something.

I know Roxy Music brought Jealous Guy out as a single. I really like that ‘ultimate version’ by John.

It’s a beautiful piece and a bit of a departure for John.

Lovely for a Sunday morning N.! I like them both, with John perhaps edging out by just the slightest.

go and see Roxy Music here in 1974) …
