This is my first time doing a quadrille.
Written for dVerse Quadrille.

My husband grew up
on an island;
perhaps that’s why
he’s a man
unto himself.
At the end
of each street
was a lagoon
stretching out
into the ocean.
He reminisces that
a childhood on
City Island
was the best way
to grow up.

This is “Sleepy Lagoon” by Henry Mancini
Wow, he grew up on an island, with lagoons? Coolness! 😀

Yes, he did, but before you start getting too excited, it wasn’t a tropical island or anything like that. City Island is in the borough of The Bronx in New York. That said, it’s still an island with a bridge to get there, one main street running down the center and side streets with little beaches at the end of each one. It was a fabulous place for kids to grow up!
Thanks, CA. So glad you’re enjoying my stories!

Very true. Thanks for your comments.
We’ve been back to City Island many times.
I’d be happy living there by the water forever.

I’m sure I would have liked growing up with a lagoon at the end of my street rather than a culdesac. What a lovely reflection and I love the music, too. ❤️🙏🏻

And his love of fishing possibly, too. Peder was also raised on a very small island. As they say, small world.
