Autumn In The City: Sijo

Written for Tanka Tuesday. Our host, Willow, asks
us to write a sijo about Autumn and our expectations.

Golden leaves drift across Central Park,
catching late September sun.

Chilly winds whisper secrets through the streets
as dusk begins to fall.

Though years take flight like falling leaves,
they leave a golden light behind.

Nancy’s Notes: A sijo is a Korean poetry form comprised of three lines each averaging 14-16 syllables; westernized, a sijo may be written in six lines with a syllable count between 44 to 46.
