The Line Between

Written for Sunday Whirl Wordle. Brenda is our host
and her prompt words are shown below.
Here’s where the prompts took me.

She does not trudge; no, that is not the geisha way. She drifts …. each step pressed into the fresh-fallen powder like a whispered confession. Behind her, the track she leaves is the only line in this wide, empty garden.

The hollow between the trees holds its breath. Rare, this stillness …. the kind that twists the self free from the body, so that the eye no longer trusts where the snow ends and the sky begins.

She has walked into this wintry trance; no sound, no warmth. Only the silver-blue of her kimono against the cold, and the faint golden glow of something she cannot name burning above the trees.

  1. I loved your mystical story, and for some reason I immediately thought of Sia’s song “Breath Me” … Here’s some lyrics

“Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
    Hurt myself again today
And the worst part is there’s no one else to blame

    Be my friend, hold me
    Wrap me up, unfold me
    I am small and needy
Warm me up and breathe me”
