Written for Living Poetry where our host,
Bartholomew asks us to write any form of
poem using the image shown below as
inspiration. Here’s where the prompt took me.

Small ears catch the wind’s gentle whisper,
dew still fresh upon the grass.
Alert eyes reading every shadow,
watching, waiting, still as stone.
A young heart beats wildly in the green;
one soft breath, then gone.

Nancy’s Notes: I have written a nature sijo using the syllable format of 9/7/9/7/9/5.
This is “Dew on the Grass” by Will Harrison
Everything on The Elephant’s Trunk was created by me, unless otherwise indicated. Thanks for your consideration. NAR©2017-present.

Great work, Nancy! Love the “young heart beats wildly in the green” line. Thanks for writing to my little picture prompt.
