New Day

Written for Cinquain Poetry Prompt
where our inspiration is “refresh”.
This is my cinquain.

Still pond,
no wind to stir…
a stone drops, rings spread wide,
the whole grey surface wakes and breathes
again.

Cold hands
wrap a warm mug,
steam rising, eyes lift up…
the morning finds its shape at last,
refresh.

Old screen
spinning its wheel,
patient as a held breath,
then suddenly the new page blooms
alive.

Walk out…
wet grass, bare feet…
the yard still holding night…
you didn’t know how dry you were
till now.

  1. I loved the positive vibes of the last stanza, Nancy

    “Walk out…
    wet grass, bare feet…
    the yard still holding night…
you didn’t know how dry you were
    till now.”
