Still Waters

Written for Cinquain Poetry Prompt
where our inspiration is “think”.
This is my cinquain.

Image by Me & Mirage AI

Minds stir,
turning the dark,
making circles widen
like hands churning the calm water,
unstill.

Some thoughts
arrive like guests
unbidden, trailing mud,
yet even these deserve a chair
and tea.

Others
shimmer and dart,
impossible to catch,
bright fish beneath the surface of
deep lakes.

To think
is to build rooms
you may never live in,
but paint and furnish anyway
with care.

So sit.
Let the mind breathe.
Thinking is the first step
we take in search of the answers
we need.
