Did y’all happen to see this? A photo popped up the other day while I was watching YouTube. I tried, but I couldn’t look away! Some called the look “luxurious”; that wasn’t the adjective that came to my mind.

Whoopi Goldberg stepped out for the 2025 Met Gala in New York City in a suit-dress by Thom Browne. Over her custom black duchess satin raglan-sleeve dress she wore a white fur, bouclé and sequin off-the-shoulder coat with lacing detail down the center front and back, a top hat in wool bouclé from the Thom Browne fall 2015 archive collection and longwing boots in black and white patent leather.

The View co-host sported a unique accessory – gold finger caps by L’Enchanteur – who also designed her gold link chain and keyhole brooch with black opal and blue and white diamonds, as well as rings of green tourmaline, diamonds, tanzanite, garnet and purple sapphire. The look was customized with a whopping 350,000 matte white sequins and took over 7,700 hours to make.

  2. Oh, that Met Gala, where they spend a fortune to look over the top, and then to donate a fortune to a costume institute! I’m not quite sure what to think of it, actually. Maybe there are better ways to spend millions of dollars? *insert shrug here*

    1. Angela, I see it as a competition for people who want to get tongues wagging about their get ups. They do spend a ridiculous amount of money, but it’s theirs and they have every right to spend it anyway they like. As you pointed out, there are far better things to do with that much money. Personally, I think it’s ridiculous but it sure is fun talking about it! Thanks for your excellent comments. Much appreciated.

        1. I’m convinced it’s all for shock effect. Some of some of the other photos included Lil Kim wearing some kind of jumpsuit with one boob exposed adorned with a pasty and Rose McGowan, who wore a backless fishnet dress with no undies except for a little triangle of cloth in front. I don’t get it.

    That might be an off-the-shoulder coat but I would constantly–constantly!–be shrugging to get that thing on my shoulders! Yeah, I don’t do luxury well. 😂
