Photo Prompt, Poetry

Storm Road

Written for Sadje’s “What Do You See”.
Here’s where the prompt took me.

An empty road runs straight and true
beneath a torn and violet sky,
where lightning splits the darkness through
and fields of amber stand nearby.

The bolts descend in fractured light,
the clouds glow pink against the black –
a traveler caught out in the night
and now there is no turning back.
