Just A Game: A Cinquain

Written for Cinquain Poetry Prompt where our
inspiration is “politics”. Here’s my mirror cinquain.

Around
the world’s chess board,
pols put heads together.
Practiced grins, gestures wide, they play
a game
of pawns.
Each player claims the moral high –
politicians talk cheap –
and the pawns lose.
Kings win
each time.
And in the end
they shake hands, walk away;
reset the board, play tomorrow.
Their rules.

  1. Makes one speculate whether those rules are only on one side. Is the name of the game “Conflict & Strife, the Political Knife”? Like “This is the song that never ends…yes it goes on and on my friends!”
