Regrets, I’ve Had A Few: Thursday Inspiration

Written for Thursday Inspiration #318
“Always On My Mind”. Here’s my response.

For this week’s Thursday Inspiration, Jim Adams asks us to respond to the challenge by using the prompt word treat’, referring to the song “Always On My Mind”, by Willie Nelson or any other song by him, Brenda Lee, Elvis Presley, B.J. Thomas or Pet Shop Boys, or a song that is about deep regret for not showing enough love and appreciation to a partner, admitting shortcomings in words and actions, while reassuring them they were constantly thought of and are still cherished, or a song that expresses remorse for past neglect, and recognizes missed opportunities, or whatever we think fits.

In response to Jim’s request, I have chosen a song by the Scorpions.

Formed in 1965 in Hanover, Germany, by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, the Scorpions is a legendary hard rock/heavy metal band known for hits like “Rock You Like a Hurricane”, “Still Loving You”, and “Winds of Change”. As one of Europe’s most successful rock acts, they achieved global fame in the 1980s. Their most iconic lineup included Schenker, vocalist Klaus Meine, lead guitarist Matthias Jabs, bassist Francis Buchholz, and drummer Herman Rarebell. Initially, their style leaned toward hard rock but shifted toward melodic heavy metal and power ballads in the 1980s. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful rock bands in Europe.

“Still Loving You” by the Scorpions is a renowned 1984 power ballad from the album Love At First Sting, co-written by Rudolf Schenker and Klaus Meine. The song, featuring a slow-building, emotional narrative about fighting for a broken relationship, became a massive international hit. It is a song about the struggle to save a dying love affair, expressing deep regret, and asking for a second chance. It highlights enduring love despite heartbreak, pride-induced walls, and the hope that love can conquer the obstacles in a relationship.

Many thanks to Jim Adams for this week’s inspiration. Thanks to you all for stopping by for a look and a listen.

That’s all she wrote, kids. See you on the flip side. 😎

  1. I listen to this song on occasion. Takes me back to a teenage crush. 😆 Anyway… I didn’t know the band was formed in Hanover, Germany. My great grandmother was from there. Thank you for sharing! 🎶

  2. Great choice, Nancy going with this emotional love song that is filled with pain and wishing for another chance.  The man is still in love with woman, but it seems like their relationship is fading and almost over, so they try again to reignite that passion and flame and give it another shot.
