Memento Poem, Poem, Theme Prompt

August 15, 1965: Tickets To Ride

Written for David’s Weave Written Weekly #195
where Marion asks us to write a Memento Poem.
I have chosen to write about the day my mother
surprised me with tickets to see The Beatles.
This is my Memento Poem. Thanks, Marion!

My mother looked into my eyes,
“Hurry now, get ready,
let’s go!”
Be still my heart! What a surprise!
Bright lights, feeling heady.
The show!

The Lads ran out, a group of four;
the best in all the land.
They sang,
we barely heard above the roar
“I Want To Hold Your Hand”.
Hearts rang!

  1. WOW … what a fabulous experience for a young lass, Nancy … I was fortunate enough to see the Rolling Stones, at the Kooyong Tennis Centre in 1973 … an afternoon outdoor concert in January, it was 39’C …
