Written for RDP, where Martha asks us
to get creative with the word “fierce”.
Thanks, Martha! Here’s my take.

When Rachel first started seeing Raul, her parents didn’t like it but decided to keep quiet, at least for the moment. They had been through this before with Rachel’s older sisters and knew the drill; forbidden fruit was always more appealing. They kept a watchful eye on their daughters and, as they predicted, the relationships always fizzled out. Not so with Rachel. As the days went by, she and Raul became inseparable. Rachel’s grades dropped, she barely spent any time with the family and her friends stopped calling or coming over. Her parents forbid her from seeing Raul and took away her phone. Rachel’s reaction was fierce; she screamed at her parents that she hated them, they didn’t own her and they could never keep her away from Raul. Then she stormed out of the house and ran off into the night.

Girls are a handful; I can say that because I used to be one! 😂 We have only boys and they didn’t give us any gray hairs! Thanks, Ange. 🥰

It’s easy to picture your story play out in real life. I also like your song pick and first heard Tiffany’s ’80s dance version of “I Think We’re Alone Now.” I liked it at the time but now much prefer the original recording by Tommy James & The Shondells.

Nice to hear, Christian. I totally forgot that Tiffany covered this song until I was looking for the Tommy James video and she popped up. I love a good cover but this one clearly goes to Tommy James and the Shondells.

Teenagers can be difficult. No kids of my own, but my last foster girl was a nightmare.

Sorry you had a hellish time of it, Di. We have only sons but I’ve heard from my friends with daughters that they can be extremely difficult. Of course, we were perfect teenagers ourselves, weren’t we? 😂

Parents must go through a lot when their kids become teenagers.

We were lucky. Our boys were very laid back and we didn’t have any trouble with them but we know people who’ve gone through hell with their kids.

I had to put up with two teenage daughters – including one called Rachel who certainly had a fierce moment or two!

Boys are much easier! I’m sure your Rachel turned out just fine. ☺️
