Written for RDP, where drkottaway asks us
to get creative with the word “jalopy”.
Thanks, Doc! Here’s my musical take.

A “jalopy” is slang for a dilapidated, old car with its debated origins linked to old vehicles being sent to Jalapa, Mexico, or a French term for a worn-out horse, appearing in print around the 1920s and used to describe resourceful, beat-up vehicles, even in racing. The term became popular during the Depression, symbolizing perseverance, and was used in literature by authors like Steinbeck and Kerouac, while also referring to specific racing cars or even a popular video game.
Happy Sunday, my friends!

I bet they felt every bump in the road driving around in those old cars.

Fun, fun, fun, ..Nancy, the Jalopy looked so precariously piecemeal , …🎶.the music said it all,🎶 in the first clip, and in the second one? Where”ll we be ? “right here”, … a lovely sardonic clip, …😉…. (and I’ll be right there putting all the pieces together , … I love puzzles )…💙

Wonderful comments, dear Penn. That car would never pass inspection! As I got older, I really began to appreciate the humor of Laurel & Hardy. It’s ironic how many “funny ” performers actually led quite unhappy lives. Enjoy your puzzles! 💙
