Written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt
#447 where we’re asked to be creative in
exactly 68 words using the word ‘teaspoon’.
Here’s where the prompt took me.

Detective Burnside studied the crime scene. Lady Ashford lay motionless, teacup beside her.
“Poison?” asked the constable.
The detective lifted a silver teaspoon from the saucer and sniffed it. “Cyanide. But look, she was left-handed.”
He turned to the butler. “You prepared her tea, Higgins. You stirred it. She never touched this spoon.”
The butler’s face drained of color.
“You murdered her! Constable Crowther, the butler did it!.”

Haha! I think there an Agatha Christie book where the butter did it too.

I love Agatha Christie and have read all her books. The butler story that comes to mind first is The Murder of Roger Aykroyd.

I thought you were supposed to use the word implant in your story. I loved the song, Nancy.

Thanks for pointing that out, Jim. I forgot to change the prompt word in my description from “implant” to “teaspoon”. Implant was last week prompt! I just made the correction. Good to know you have a keen eye. That’s a cool song, isn’t it?

It’s always the butler! Either him or Colonel Mustard. In the library with a candlestick. 😂
