Tripping

Our gracious host, Rochelle, is asking us to get
creative in 100 words or less using the photo
seen below. Welcome to Friday Fictioneers.
This is where the prompt took me.

I watch the pigs fly, their translucent wings catching light like stained glass. Yellow, green, orange bodies ascending on invisible strings toward a ceiling that breathes.

The black chandelier spider watches everything with bulb-eyes. Patient. Ancient. It knows I know it’s alive.

My hands aren’t my hands anymore; they’re memories of hands. They feel like giant water balloons.

Someone left the lamp burning inside that glass prison on the table. I can hear it humming secrets about the chair backs….they’re not chairs. They are sentinels guarding the threshold between rooms that keep multiplying.

When did the walls start to exhale?

          1. Ugh. I unfortunately feel you. I was fine all the way up until last night. This morning, my nose started running, I started sneezing. I am NOT pleased. That’s what happens when you run yourself ragged, don’t sleep well (enough) and overindulge!

            1. We were supposed to go to the Met Opera House tomorrow for the children’s Christmas performance of “The Magic Flute”, but because we’re sick we can’t go. The only saving grace in that is we are in the middle of a snowstorm so the performance may be canceled/re-scheduled. We’ll know more tomorrow.

Hope you feel better soon, cara amica. 💖

  1. Pigs flying with sparkles on their wings, next thing you’ll be telling me, “there’s a pink elephant’s trunk breathing and trumpeting Hallelujah from inside the wall” … 🎶💕🐘🐖
