It’s true …. it ain’t easy.
I had wrist surgery today and the cyst is gone, but the doctor noticed that the tendon which controls my pinky finger was partially ruptured. That explains the bad pain I was having. The doctor repaired the tendon, but the surgery was more extensive than we thought. I now have a plaster cast on my hand and a bandage over the cast. Recuperation is going to be longer, too …. approximately six weeks.
I’m kind of bummed out about this, but the tendon was not going to repair itself, and if it ruptured completely, the surgery would have been even more extensive. With this plaster cast, I’m rather limited, as you can imagine. I can’t type so I’m using a dictation app. I’m trying to keep up with comments but I feel like I’m treading water. I’m sorry about that and I apologize.
Thank you for all your good wishes. It’s wonderful knowing how many great friends I have here on WordPress.
Best always,
Nancy
It’s painful, Nancy, but you have an elephant by your side. Everything will be fine. Take rest and proper care. My thoughts and prayers are with you 💞💞💞

I’m glad the surgery is now behind you, Nancy, and wish you a good recovery. All things must pass including recuperation. Please don’t feel compelled to respond to my comments or comment on my blog posts. It’s much more important to focus on the healing process!

I’m sure hope you’re right, Glyn. I shouldn’t be thinking so far down the road but that’s what we do and right now, I’m thinking about the Christmas prep and presents to be wrapped and it’s a bit overwhelming.

Nancy, very sorry the recovery plan is longer than expected. I have never had my hands or hand “out of commission,” but I can imagine how frustrating that must be. The healing is underway…that’s the good news…and the most important. It won’t be long before you get that “freedom” back.😊

I’m glad the surgery went well. The doctor was diligent and did the needful when he noticed the ruptured tendon. As the say- a stitch in time saves nine. Take care and feel better soon. Lots of love and hugs.

So glad they caught it in time. I love the idea of using a dictation tool . I had not thought of that.

I must sound like the biggest crybaby right now because I was not expecting to be in this mother of a cast. Even my back surgery, as painful as it was, was not this debilitating because I have the use of my hands. Being right handed, there’s very little I can do and I hate that. The recuperation period may take as long as 6 weeks and I can’t imagine not blogging for that long so I will definitely be using the dictation app. You can’t dictate everything, such as images and videos, but I think I can manage a couple of things with my left hand. You’re absolutely right about catching this in time; if the tendon had ruptured completely, I’d be singing a different tune right about now.

Now that the anesthesia has worn off I’m in a lot more pain.

Looks painful Nancy. Are you right handed? Hubby’s surgery was on his left hand and he’s a lefty. He’s still having problems. You can only do what you can, but your readers will understand.

Glad to hear that it sort of went well, and I wish you a speedy and painfree recovery. Just try not to overdo things – we’ll still all be here when you can type again! Take care 👍

Thank you, Clive. Now that the anesthesia has worn off, my hand really hurts and there’s not much I can do. I’m dictating this comment, which is the only way I can communicate. Monday I will be seeing the surgeon again and will be fitted for a custom splint. Perhaps I was a bit presumptuous in thinking I would be able to keep up my blogging. It now looks like I will be out of commission for a while. I’ll just have to play it by ear. Thanks for your encouraging comments.

I’m sorry to hear that, and hope that you’ll be feeling better soon. Maybe the surgeon will help? At least you haven’t lost your voice and can still dictate! Take care, and remember…

Best wishes and a nice prayer for you. That looks uncomfortable and it’s awful not being able to type. I tried the dictation thing when I had rotator cuff repair and it messed me up, so I resorted to using a couple of fingers like chicken pecking. It’s never as long as the Doc says, so you’ll be back in the saddle soon.

Thanks, Phil. I had local anesthesia in my hand; now that’s worn off and my hand hurts like a son of a bitch. I’m dictating this because typing is out of the question. I like dictating, but there’s only so much you can dictate. On Monday, I’ll be fitted for a custom splint and maybe it will be more comfortable than having this huge cast on my hand. I’m just going to have to play it by ear. Thanks for your good wishes, my friend.

Thanks so much, Ange. Now that the local anesthesia has worn off, my hand really hurts and there’s very little I can do as I am right handed. I have a couple of posts scheduled to publish through Sunday; after that, we will see if I can continue. I realize it’s not the end of the world, but I know I will miss blocking every day. I will just have to play it by ear. Thank you for your wonderful comments.

Not need for replies, we know you can read them, it’s really important to rest – I did my tendon in my ankle when I broke my foot and it needs more help healing than a bone…. The time I couldn’t walk felt Interminable (I also have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis in my hip, back and neck so to use crutches was too painful) – but the time passes, we heal snd you will be back. Use the time to dictate lots of wonderful posts 💞 be kind to yourself

Oh, Suzanne. I also have osteoarthritis so you really get where I’m coming from! It’s very difficult for me to sit around and do nothing but being right handed and having my right hand out of commission leaves me little choice. I have stories scheduled through Sunday; after that, I’ll have to play it by ear. Thanks for your good wishes.

Thank you, Brian. This really threw me for a loop! I’m afraid I may be out of commission for a while. I am dictating this message as typing is out of the question at the moment. I will try to take your sage advice, even if it means no blogging.

You’re not kidding, Lisa! If the tendon had ruptured completely, things would be much worse. Even though I’m very restricted, I need to count my blessings. Thank goodness, I can dictate and do some blogging. Thanks for your good wishes, my friend. Most appreciated. ❤️

This really threw me for a loop, Jim. What I hoped would be a simple cyst removal turned into a much more extensive and painful procedure. I have a couple of posts scheduled through Sunday; I’ll have to see if I’m able to continue after that. It’s rather discouraging thinking I won’t be able to blog for a few weeks. I’m using the Dictation app, but it does have some limitations, especially if I want to add an image or a video to my posts like I always do. There’s no way I can accomplish that using dictation. I’m just going to have to play it by ear. Thanks for your good wishes, my friend.
