Our gracious host, Rochelle, encourages us
to be creative by writing a story in 100 words
or less using the photo prompt below. This is a snippet
of a story I wrote years ago. At that time, I failed to indicate
that it was a fiction piece, which made a few people angry at me.
Utterly ridiculous! FFS! Like I really interviewed George Harrison!
This is Friday Fictioneers and here’s where the photo took me.

Interviewer: How did you get into music?
George: Ever since I was a small boy, all I wanted was to be a musician. I remember the first time I heard Carl Perkins on the radio. I didn’t know who he was. This incredible guitar playing was coming from someone’s window as I rode by on my bike. I had to find out who it was. Making music wasn’t about being famous or getting rich. It was a way for me to express myself. All I wanted was to play the guitar and be in a band like John and Paul.

Nancy’s Notes: Since 1964, I have been in love with George Harrison … not a silly schoolgirl crush for a Beatle but a deep-in-my-soul-love for a special human being, a person with an amazing talent for music and a genuine capacity for understanding, forgiveness and acceptance. If I was given one hour to talk with George Harrison, I would be sublimely happy. I don’t expect a lot of people to understand … and that’s ok. I know how I feel and that’s enough for me.

Hella Good, Nancy. What a thrill it would be to spend an hour with him. Maybe when time machines are invented. Love the Perkins-Harrison video. A dream come true for Geo.

Thanks so much, Brenda. I almost didn’t mention anything about my deep admiration for George for fear people would think I was acting like a silly school girl still infatuated by the Beatles. I’m glad I wrote something after all; I’ve gotten only very positive feedback. The Beatles’ music impacted the lives of so many of us in a way we never felt before and is still doing so today.

Dear Nancy,
Your post made me smile and smile some more. My favorite Beatle varies from day to day. 😉 George was certainly the most underrated. As I watched the video I thought that had to be a dream come true for George. Well done, my fellow Beatles fan.

Thank you, dear Rochelle!
That is exactly what the video is all about for me. It’s interesting to note that Carl Perkins looks thrilled to be performing with a Beatle. Two dreams came true on that stage. Thanks so much for your very kind comments. I’m delighted to know you enjoyed my interview with George.

I enjoyed the fact that you did your piece in the form of an interview. A great take on the prompt. You let us know about his love of music without hitting us over the head with it. Also, I had no idea he performed with Carl Perkins.

Thanks very much, Alicia. I love the video I played; it shows how much George was enjoying himself, like a kid who finally got to play on the big stage with his idol. Thanks for reading and sharing your very kind comments today. Much appreciated.

For some reason, they thought I was trying to pass my story off as an actual interview I had with George Harrison, which is such preposterous thinking on their part. People are strange, Esther!
I’m very pleased to know you enjoyed my post today. Thank you so much.

Carl Perkins was a highly influential pioneer who helped establish the sound of the electric guitar in early rock and roll and rockabilly. Harrison looks kind of cute in that video.

George idolized Carl Perkins; can you imagine the thrill he felt getting to know him, becoming friends with him and eventually performing with him? I had to go with this video instead of a solo by George.
He does look cute in that video; I always thought he was easy on the eyes.
Thanks for another insightful comment, Jim. I think you would appreciate the interview I wrote in its entirety.
